Man United can ‘make life easy by scoring goals’, says Erik ten Hag after Luton win
Man United can ‘make life easy by scoring goals’, says Erik ten Hag after Luton win
Erik ten Hag says Manchester United need to start making life easier for themselves after his under-fire side secured a much-needed victory against promoted Luton before the international break. United could ill-afford another shock as Luton came to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon (11 November), when a mixture of poor finishing and fine goalkeeping by Thomas Kaminski frustrated the hosts. Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garncho and Marcus Rashford all had good chances, but in the end defender Victor Lindelof was the unlikely match winner in a 1-0 Premier League triumph.

Pochettino says he learned lessons from infamous ‘Battle of the Bridge’ to mature as manager
Pochettino says he learned lessons from infamous ‘Battle of the Bridge’ to mature as manager
Mauricio Pochettino said Chelsea’s victory at Tottenham on Monday proved he has matured as a manager in the years since his first spell in England. A frenetic 4-1 win in north London came amid two red cards for the hosts as emotions threatened to spill over in a manner reminiscent of the so-called “Battle of Stamford Bridge”, when Pochettino’s Spurs lost their discipline and a two-goal lead to concede the 2015-16 Premier League title. After that game, which confirmed Leicester as champions, Pochettino was criticised for allowing his players to lose control of the match and let slip the chance of claiming a first league title since 1961. Yet on Monday, it was his former side whose discipline failed them.

Chelsea: Emma Hayes says ‘time is right’ to move on from club after 12 years
Emma Hayes said the “time is right” for her to step down as Chelsea manager after it was confirmed last week she will leave the Women’s Super League champions at the end of the season. However, she would not be drawn on reports linking her with the vacant United States national team job, and said the decision to depart is motivated by a desire to spend more time with her five-year-old son, Harry. “I’ve been in post for 12 years and I’ve dedicated my life to this place,” she told reporters. “So the time is right and I will work with the club in the succession plan and do everything I can to make sure there is a good transition.”

Peruvian football stadium plunged into darkness during title celebrations as rivals turn lights off
A football club plunged its stadium into darkness after the team’s rivals celebrated their league title win. Alianza Lima pulled the plug and plunged the stadium into a blackout as Universitario Deportes celebrated their title glory. Universitario Deportes have now called for sanctions to be imposed on Alianza Lima after their actions prevented the award ceremony from going ahead. Universitario claimed a record-extending 27th league title after a 2-0 win at city rivals Alianza on Wednesday had wrapped up a 3-1 aggregate victory. But before the celebrations could get underway the lights went out at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, an incident Universitario labelled both disgraceful and dangerous. In his post-match press conference, Klopp heard news of United’s defeat and his reaction summed up how many supporters will be feeling. “Ooooh, okay,” he said, wincing in front of reporters. Arteta hails ‘top-level’ Eddie Nketiah after striker hits first Premier League hat-trick
Mikel Arteta praised “top-level” striker Eddie Nketiah after the England international hit a first Premier League hat-trick over Sheffield United. In a 5-0 win, Nketiah scored the first three goals as Arsenal ran out comfortable victors over the bottom club. Fabio Vieira’s penalty and Takehiro Tomiyasu’s first goal for the club completed the win. Nketiah dedicated the hat-trick to his aunt, who recently died. “I’m really happy for him, an academy player to experience in the Premier League a hat-trick. He needs to enjoy the moment. He fully deserves it and hopefully, there are many more to come" Arteta said. Chelsea ‘not nasty enough’ as Brentford win 2-0, admits Mauricio Pochettino
Chelsea ‘not nasty enough’ as Brentford win 2-0, admits Mauricio Pochettino
Chelsea were “not nasty enough” in their attack as Brentford won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, Mauricio Pochettino lamented after his team’s third home Premier League defeat of the season. Victory for the visitors was earned with second-half goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo, which maintained Brentford’s 100 per cent record on the ground since being promoted to the top flight in 2021. After Chelsea’s run of three league games unbeaten ended, Pochettino said: “If you don’t score, you need to blame ourselves. We were not nasty or clinical in front of the goal.”

Sacramento Kings coach chokes up speaking about Maine mass shooting
NBA coach Mike Brown emotionally responded to Wednesday’s mass shooting in Maine after watching his Sacramento Kings team beat the Utah Jazz. Brown was reluctant to discuss basketball during the postgame press conference, instead urging the United States to “do something” following another mass shooting. “I don’t know everything that’s going on, I’m not that smart, but I know we as a country got to do something,” he said. “It’s sad that we sit here and we watch this happen time after time after time after time. And nobody does anything about it. “It’s a sad day for our country. It’s a sad day in this world. And until we decide to do something about it, the powers that be, this is going to keep happening.” Read More Watch: Celtic fans wave Palestinian flags in defiance of club appeal Moment Gerard Pique falls into huge hole as he’s distracted by phone Bobby Charlton’s football was ‘poetry in motion’, says former teammate

Celtic fans wave Palestinian flags ahead of Champions League fixture in defiance of club appeal
Celtic fans defied a club appeal and waved Palestinian flags before Wednesday’s Champions League fixture. The Green Brigade, a supporter group which occupies the north curve of Celtic Park, traditionally organise a tifo - a choreographed display involving a large banner - for major games. But as the teams emerged from the tunnel for their Group E match against Atletico Madrid, they instead held up Palestinian flags. Celtic have already banned the group from away games after they displayed the flags at recent matches in the wake of the attacks in Israel and Gaza. It is expected the Scottish club will now receive a fine from Uefa.
