Ange Postecoglou toasted his new-look Tottenham team for providing an early birthday present with a 2-0 win at Bournemouth and backed “bargain” James Maddison to get even better. The running was suspended for 20 minutes as Sargeant’s stricken Williams was removed and the barriers were repaired.
