The Dallas Stars have a chance to advance to the Western Conference Final tonight when they head to Seattle to take on the Kraken in Game 6.
The Stars were facing a 1-2 deficit in the series, but have won two games in a row by a combined score of 11-5 and now they have a stranglehold on the Kraken's Stanley Cup dreams.
Will they close things out on the road tonight or will we see a Game 7 in Texas? Let's dive into the betting odds for Game 6 and then I'll give you my thoughts.
Stars vs. Kraken odds, puck line, and total
Stars vs. Kraken prediction and pick
The Stars have proven to be the better team this series and the Kraken should feel lucky it has even gone to Game 6.
The advanced analytics for this series gives the Stars a significant edge. For example, in expected goals per 60 minutes the stars are at 3.37 and the Kraken are at 2.23, which is the lowest amongst all second round teams.
The Stars are also averaging 4.42 more high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes of action, which is a significant margin over a five game sample size.
If the Kraken want any hope of forcing a Game 7, they need to continue to shoot the lights out. Their 13.01% shooting percentage this season is the third best amongst all eight second round teams.
But, with a goaltender as talented as Jake Oettinger, I have faith the Stars can shut them down.
I'll back Dallas as a road favorite to close out the series tonight.
