The 2023 NBA Draft is drawing closer and we are still looking for clarity around the No. 2 overall pick, currently held by the Charlotte Hornets.
Oddsmakers shifted odds in a big way on Monday night into Tuesday morning, installing guard Scoot Henderson as the heavy favorite to be selected second behind Victor Wembanyama on Thursday's draft night. After being placed behind Brandon Miller on the odds board since the draft order was revealed, Henderson has the shortest odds of this draft cycle to go No. 2.
This comes on the heels of reports that both Henderson and Miller were in Charlotte on Monday to meet with outgoing owner Michael Jordan and the Hornets brass.
It's worth mentioning that teams like the New Orleans Pelicans have been tied to the No. 2 pick in trade scenarios with eyes on getting the pick to select the G-League Ignite guard, which could also be possibly fueling the odds shift.
Miller has been the odds on favorite for the better part of a month after the Hornets secured the No. 2 overall pick. The Alabama forward is a more seamless fit on the roster that features guard LaMelo Ball which is what has led many pundits to link the prospect to Charlotte, but bettors are starting to come in big time on Henderson to be the pick.
There's still more than 48 hours until the pick is in, so expect more twists and turns around the NBA Draft, starting at No. 2, but for now here are the odds that features Henderson as the -250 favorite (71% implied probability):
