To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the Oakland Athletics lost another baseball game last night. They are on pace for a historically bad season, and after that 5-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, are 9-34.
Meanwhile, Arizona is 24-18 and just won its fourth straight game. The D-Backs are three games behind the Dodgers, but has a chance to make up ground against the worst team in baseball.
For Game 2 of this series in Oakland, Arizona will send Tommy Henry to the mound with his 1-1 record and 4.43 ERA. The A's will counter with 1-3 Kyle Muller with his 7.34 ERA.

Diamondbacks vs. Athletics prediction and pick
Arizona could have a tough time with Muller because they are in the bottom half of the league in OPS against lefties, but Christian Walker has five home runs and a 1.077 OPS against left-handers, so they do have enough thump in their lineup to punish a pitcher who has never gotten through the sixth inning this season and has allowed 11 runs across his last two starts.
Oakland will need some length from its bullpen, but it's not likely considering the team has the worst bullpen in baseball. Oakland has a -160 run differential, also worst in baseball. The second worst team is the White Sox at -71. We are looking at history, ladies and gentlemen.
Brent Rooker is one of the best hitters in baseball and leads the league in OPS, but he alone isn't enough to win games for Oakland. I can't bring myself to ever bet on this abysmal team.
