TCU throttled Arkansas on Sunday to clinch a spot in the Fayetteville Regional Finals, but the Razorbacks bounced back and beat Santa Clara to extend its season.
This is the first of potentially two games for the Horned Frogs and Razorbacks as the host team must win both to advance to the Super Regionals. TCU proved it can hit with Arkansas, tagging the Hogs for 20 runs in Sunday's matchup.
Can TCU keep it rolling and end Arkansas' season?
Here are the odds:
Arkansas vs. TCU odds, run line and total
Arkansas vs. TCU prediction and pick
TCU doesn't have the pitching depth on paper to match Arkansas firepower on the mound, but when factoring in the schedule for the Razorbacks, who had to play two games that included rain delays, I believe fatigue will play a role.
Arkansas' bullpen has tacked on 199 more pitches than TCU through the weekend and the Horned Frogs offense is very similar to the Razorbacks; neither are elite on paper. In the regular season, Arkansas checked in 81st in on-base percentage while TCU was 82nd. However, on Sunday the Horned Frogs showcased its upside, headlined by shortstop Tre Richardson, who hit three home runs, two of which were grand slams.
The difference between the two teams is not this great given the pitching situations for each team. The Razorbacks come from the SEC and entered the Fayetteville Regionals as the No. 3 seed, but TCU is game to advance. I'll take a stab at the Horned Frogs to advance to the Super Regionals to face Indiana State.
