LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Yellowstone's popularity has surged since its first season, and it has only grown. Well, there’s no need to explain further as after beating Monday Night Football, it is now officially the most-watched TV show of the 2022-2023 season. This modern western airs on Paramount Network, however, it is all set to end its run at some point next year.
The other basic cabler to be top of the table is AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead,’ but it has wrapped up the series. But this moment is to be celebrated by Taylor Sheridan, after reaching the top slot, and also becoming the only non-sports show to average over 10 million viewers a week, which is 11.6 million. Furthermore, it is also the only entertainment series to stay at a 2.0 rating or more among adults 18-49. Interestingly, the next best show is almost half its mark, as per The Variety.
'CBS topped with total viewers averaging 5.9 M'
If we talk about ‘Tulsa King’ and ‘1923,’ they made it to the top 100 of this season’s top series. With the TV season ending, CBS managed to pull off the trophy for total viewers averaging 5.9 million (sliding 5% from the previous year), meanwhile while Fox was at number one in adults 18-49 with a 1.1 rating. As per CBS, it is their 15th consecutive run in viewers, a streak that ties its previous dominance between 1955 and 1970. Worth mentioning that Fox was aided this year by the Super Bowl, and its +22% margin of victory in the demo is the biggest by any network since it last broadcast one of the biggest games in 2020.
'You go in there head-first'
Lainey Wilson, the country singer is grateful that 'Yellowstone' popularity benefited her a lot. She made her acting debut through the hit series and now has a massive fan following. It is said, Sheridan created a role specifically for the singer. She truly embodied her role in ‘Yellowstone’ and became a popular character among its viewers. Wilson said, "I didn't really know what I was doing, but you go in there head-first. I was going to give people their money's worth." Wilson has blind faith in Sheridan’s vision, “No matter which direction it goes, it’s gonna be incredible because Taylor Sheridan, I mean, he can do no wrong, in my opinion.”
