Wolves confident over Julen Lopetegui future

Wolves do not believe that manager Julen Loeptegui will walk away from the club this summer, but they are due to hold talks with their boss this week, sources have confirmed to
90min.

Lopetegui revealed over the weekend that his plans for the summer might have to be curtailed due to issues with the club meeting Financial Fair Play requirements.

Wolves are already set to lose high earners such as Adama Traore and Joao Moutinho this summer, but others are also expected to follow them out the exit door at Molineux - including star midfielder Ruben Neves.

But Lopetegui has been left frustrated that his plans could very well be curtailed to such an extent that he could be forced to walk away from the role.

"I have had that meeting and there are some Financial Fair Play problems I didn't know before," he said recently. "I hope we will solve this issue. It's very difficult to compete in the Premier League without investment.

"Despite the club investing this year it has been a very hard year so we have to learn the lesson and do our homework to try to improve the team."

However, despite these worries, sources have told 90min that the club are confident that Lopetegui, who still has two years left on his current deal, will continue with the project he has started.

The former Real Madrid and Spain boss was persuaded into taking the Wolves job with the club bottom of the Premier League table at Christmas, but he guided them to safety with plenty to spare.
