What better way to celebrate America's independence than watch a bunch of grown adults scarf down as many hot dogs as possible? Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest truly has no parallel on the Fourth of July. Here's what you need to know about this year's competition.

Started back in 1972 on Coney Island, Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest is a tradition like no other. The annual competition is held in Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY, where participants try to eat as many hot dogs as they can in 10 minutes.

Joey Chestnut is the reigning king of the men's competition, while Miki Sudo has been paving her own legacy in the women's competition.

What time will Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest be in 2023? Read on to find out.

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest 2023 date and time

On Tuesday, July 4th, the women's competition begins at 10:45 a.m. ET. The men's competition begins at noon ET.

Both are available to stream on the ESPN app.

Interested in competing in Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest? Unfortunately, participants have to be under contract by Major League Eating (MLE) to participate.

As for the basic rules of the contest, participants are allowed to drink water, can get flagged for penalties for "messy eating" and regurgitation, and in the event of a tie, there will be a sudden death round.

May the biggest appetite win.
