Many of you would be surprised to know that the ‘Hot pursuit’ star is of the endomorph body type, ie, she is on the curvier side. Nevertheless, she has managed to keep her abs toned and muscles taut despite indulging in mouth watering fast food now and then. Secret to her fitness? Regular work out and portion control.
Sofia Vergera’s workout plan
The ‘Wild Card’ actress has two trainers with whom she likes to train. In 2017, one of Vergera’s trainers, Jennifer Yates, shared with Marie Claire that the glamorous diva likes to work out for 5-7 days a week. But that doesn’t mean, she is not into taking breaks. Yates said, "Typically, if we have a good filming schedule where she has availability, we'll work out between 5-7 days, which is a lot. But she takes a lot of time off when she's busy.” She also shared with People that she works for at least 50 minutes a day.
The lean muscles on Vergara’s body is nothing less than a work of art. She spends every ‘50 minutes’ of her gym session working out. While she is not a huge fan of workout, she indeed listens to her instructors. Yates revealed that her high profile client is not a huge fan of running, but prefers to walk on the treadmill at a high incline. "She doesn't like to run, sometimes she'll get on the spin bike for 15 minutes, but she prefers to walk on a high incline,” before adding, "Sofia wants to build muscle and have that look—she likes curves." She further highlights the preference for walking by saying, "She'll spin to get cardio in, but walking is effective for her."
Yates continued to reveal that ‘The Smurfs’ star is more into butt exercises, "Twice a week we'll do butt exercises because that's the area she really loves to focus on," before adding, "A couple times, we do upper body and abdominals."
In the 2020 interview to People, Yates revealed that Vergara's favorite workout is Pilates with the Lagree Method of Pilates being the primary one, which is high intensity and low impact. She elaborated, “We do a lot of squats and deadlifts and lunges [on the Megaformer machine], and we do a lot of things off the machine as well,” and added, “Recently we’ve been combining some of the heavier weights for the lower body because she’s trying to put a little more mass on, so we’ve been doing a lot of work with kettle bells.”
‘There should never be guilty with pleasure’
Vergara is a self-proclaimed foodie, that can be understood from her many Instagram photos. While she eats clean on most days, she is allowed to have a few cheat days. Yates said, "I train my clients that there should never be guilty with pleasure," before adding, "If you want that piece of pizza or that cupcake, it's okay.” She also advocated “having balance”. As it was evident from Vergara enjoying a burger from the behind the scenes pic from 'AGT'.
The ‘Chef’ star’s other trainer Gunnar Peterson, recommends eating lots of fresh vegetables and lean protein. As per Rachael Attard, she cuts on carbs during the Award season to reduce bloating.
