West Ham United remain hopeful of tying Jarrod Bowen down to a new and improved contract, 90min understands.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to the new Premier League season, scoring a superb goal against Bournemouth on the opening day before netting in wins over Brighton & Hove Albion and Luton Town.
Bowen also scored West Ham's 90th minute winner in the Europa Conference League final back in June, ending the club's 43-year wait for a trophy and earning a place in this season's Europa League.
West Ham have been looking to extend Bowen's contract for well over a year, with his performances and goal return during the 2021/22 season earning a maiden call-up into Gareth Southgate's England squad, and talks between the club and player's representatives kicked back into gear prior to West Ham's trip to Prague to take on Fiorentina.
An agreement is yet to be reached but sources have confirmed to 90min that West Ham remain hopeful that Bowen will put pen to paper – his current contract at London Stadium has less than two years to run and expires in the summer of 2025.
West Ham would like to sort things out with Bowen sooner rather than later - avoiding a situation where he has just one year remaining on his deal - and an extension would reflect his status as one of the club's most important players.
Bowen has gone from strength to strength after David Moyes plucked him from the Championship in January 2020. He has scored 30 Premier League goals for West Ham in 130 appearances, netting a further 13 in cup and European competition, and his energy, direct running with the ball and positional versatility are among the high-level attributes that have caught the eye.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of Bowen's style of play, and his reliability - he has missed just two Premier League games from a possible 132 - has helped transform West Ham from relegation candidates into a club playing European football for the third season in a row.
90min understands that Bowen is highly placed on the shortlist of potential replacements for Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah, who remains the primary target for the cash-rich Saudi Pro League despite a bid being turned down during the summer transfer window.
