Today's USMNT rumors include West McKennie to Brighton, Sergino Dest to Real Sociedad and Patrick Vieira being in the running to be the next head coach of the Stars and Stripes.
USMNT rumors: Weston McKennie to Brighton
Weston McKennie's time at Leeds United on loan from Juventus has not gone to plan. Jesse Marsch who signed him was sacked after McKennie had played just one game. They have since been battling relegation and are currently in the drop zone.
However, McKennie could find a way to still be playing in the Premier League this season with a move to Brighton. According to Calciomercato, McKennie "could arrive for a figure close to 25 million euros."
The Seagulls will need to strengthen their side for next season as they are in a good position to qualify for European soccer for the first time. Roberto De Zerbi will likely need replacements for Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister in midfield as the two players have been linked with moves away from the club.
If Leeds do get relegated then there will be no chance that they will be able to make McKennie's loan permanent. Fellow USMNT players at Elland Road including Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson would probably both also depart the club.
USMNT rumors: Sergino Dest to Real Sociedad
Sergino Dest is another player who is ready to move to a new club this summer. His loan at AC Milan from Barcelona has been a disaster with the USMNT defender playing just 14 times in all competitions.
He has been linked with a move to Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. However, there is a possibility that he could remain in La Liga. BeSoccer has reported that Barca wants to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and that "the club are considering including Sergino Dest into the deal to get a more affordable price."
Union Berlin and Real Sociedad are both 4th in their respective leagues. So are teams that are on course to be playing in the Champions League next season. It could be a decision based on if Dest wants to remain in Spain or try a new league for him in Germany.
USMNT rumors: Patrick Vieira to be next head coach
Recent news on the USMNT front has been promising. The club have appointed Matt Crocker as sporting director and Oguchi Onyewu as vice president of sporting. The biggest news is that they have also recruited Folarin Balogun from England.
The Stars and Stripes do still need to find a new head coach though. Former USMNT defender Jimmy Conrad speaking on the In Soccer We Trust podcast revealed "Patrick Vieria is in the mix, from what I understand."
Vieira is out of work since being sacked by Crystal Palace earlier in the season. He has managed in America before as head coach of New York City FC. However, Jesse Marsch is the preferred choice for many supporters and Thierry Henry has also been linked with the role.
