Scottish Open purse 2023: Payout by player, finishing position

Taking a look at the Scottish Open payout distribution and purse for the 2023 tournament with the prize money for every finishing position.

The 2023 Scottish Open has been a phenomenal event. While some sickos — my brethren — have bemoaned the tournament directors from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour in this co-sanctioned event for not letting brutal winds be too much of a factor by moving up tee times on the weekend, the golf has still been fantastic.

Rory McIlroy entered the final round as the leader, which was the same as the 36-hole scores as well. He was joined by other big names at the top of the leaderboard with Tommy Fleetwood making a Saturday run, Tom Kim still lingering, Shane Lowry lurking, and Scottie Scheffler once again being in the mix.

For the 2023 Scottish Open payout on the docket, these players are competing for the $9 million purse, which is a $1 million increase from last year. But let's take a look at how the prize money from that will be paid out.

Even though the field would have you believe this is is a designated event, it's not. With the only $9 million purse — feels weird to say "only" in that context — there is only one seven-figure payday on the board, the winner's share. But it is good that the top 22 spots all make at least six figures, which speaks to how this event has grown.

More importantly, though, we got a great prequel to The Open Championship next week. The Scottish Open payout is inconsequential almost when you see guys like Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Tom Kim and other potential contenders to win at Royal Liverpool all vying for the win this week.
