Ronald Acuna's first half has been incredible. He has potential to reach a feat that no player has ever done before the All-Star Break.
There hasn't been anybody in the MLB this year that has been as incredible as the Atlanta Braves superstar outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. He has the potential to break records this year, as he has been a huge beneficiary of the limited pickoff rule paired with the pitch clock rules.
These two rules have allowed him to steal a tremendous amount of bases, putting him in line to steal upwards of 80 bases this year. No player has stolen over 80 bases since Rickey Henderson stole 93 bases in 1988.
Ronald Acuña Jr. could become the first player in MLB history to record 20 HR, 40 SB, and 50 RBI before the All-Star break
On Tuesday, Acuña slugged two solo home runs pushing his season total to 19 home runs and 51 RBI. He has also already recorded 35 stolen bases, two shy of his career high and four shy of the MLB lead, leaving him as a real candidate for the 40-home run, 40-stolen base club.
But before he can join the 40/40 club, he has a chance to become the first MLB player to ever hit 20 home runs, steal 40 bases and drive 50 runs in before the All-Star break.
Acuña currently sits one home run and five stolen bases shy of hitting this feat. The Braves have ten games remaining before Acuña makes his way to Seattle, Washington for the All-Star Game.
The Braves' 25-year-old superstar could very easily reach this mark. Hitting the one home run shouldn't be much of a challenge for him, as he has racked up four homers in the last seven games. The stolen bases will be the harder accolade to reach, as he would need to steal a base every other game for the Braves. This is achievable though, as he has swiped seven bags over the last seven games.
If Acuna is able to become the first player in MLB history to do this, he would be on an incredible pace. There is potential he could steal 80 bases and slug 40 home runs if all goes right for him.
