After winning a couple games against the Seattle Mariners, the New York Yankees have gone back to struggling, scoring just four runs over the last two games.
New York lost the opening game of this series against the Texas Rangers in extra innings on Saturday, and it could be in danger of dropping back-to-back contests with a slightly lopsided pitching matchup.
Luis Severino (0-2, 6.30 ERA) gets the ball for New York against Rangers righty Jon Gray (6-2, 2.96 ERA).
Texas' offense is No. 1 in the league in runs scored while the Yankees are 28th in runs scored over the last 30 days. Does that come back to bite New York with Severino struggling as of late?
Here are the latest odds and my best bet for Saturday's contest:
Rangers vs. Yankees odds, run line and total
Rangers vs. Yankees prediction and pick
After opening his 2023 season with two strong starts, Luis Severino has been a disaster in June.
The Yankees right-hander has a 9.16 ERA and 7.99 Fielding Independent Pitching in four starts this month, allowing 29 hits in just 18.2 innings of work.
New York is just 1-3 in those games, and it could be in some major trouble if Severino struggles this badly against baseball's No. 1 offense.
Gray is coming off one of his worst starts of the season, giving up six runs in 2.1 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays, but prior to that he'd allowed just one run and six hits in 16 innings in June.
With New York's offense profiling as one of the worst in baseball without Aaron Judge, I'll gladly bet the Rangers to win this game at Yankee Stadium.
