Rangers-Nationals rain delay update: Start time after weather delay

This post will be updated as more information is made available about the Nationals rain delay.

At just before 5:00 p.m. ET, the Nationals announced the rain delay on Twitter. There have been no additional updates as to a restart time. It is officially a waiting game in D.C.

The delay was called with the Nationals dominating the Rangers, 8-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Home runs from Jeimer Candelario, Joey Meneses and Alex Call opened the lead wide open in the first two innings. Meneses also drove in a run on a double while Luis Garcia's triple resulted in a run on a throwing error.

Rangers pitcher Andrew Heaney has seen better days. He gave up seven earned runs in three innings pitched before the delay.

On the other side of things, Jake Irvin allowed just two hits and no runs in his three innings before the weather got in the way.

The Rangers won the first game of the weekend series on Friday, 7-2. Regardless of what happens with the weather on Saturday, the two teams have a third and final game before the All-Star break scheduled for Sunday.
