PGA Championship score predictions (How will top players fare at Oak Hill?)

We are less than 48 hours away from the opening tee shot of the PGA Championship.

I've given you my personal best bets for the event, and FanSided's Cody Williams also gave you his expert picks, but now it's time to make some bold calls.

I'm going to give you my exact score prediction for each of the top 10 golfers on the odds list as well as what I think the winning score will be.

Let's dive into it.

PGA Championship score predictions

Winning score: -12

Unlike the Masters, the winning score prediction is a bit tougher to predict considering the host spot for the other three majors rotates on a yearly basis. The last time the PGA Championship was hosted at Oak Hill was in 2013 when Jason Dufner won with a final score of 10-under par.

There have been changes to Oak Hill since then. Most importantly, plenty of trees have been cut down which is going to make it less penalizing to miss the fairway. With that in mind, I think the score is going to be a couple of strokes lower than what Dufner posted in 2013.

12-under par sounds about right.

Scottie Scheffler score prediction: -8

There's no doubt that Scottie Scheffler has a chance to win this tournament, but there's two problems with his game that may prevent him from doing that. First, his putting has been average at best lately, losing strokes with his flat stick in three straight starts.

Secondly, he ranks 201st in sand save percentage. With the amount of bunkers at Oak Hill, that could prove to be a problem.

Jon Rahm score prediction: -12

Jon Rahm is my pick to win the PGA Championship, so of course I think he'll have the winning score this week.

He leads the PGA Tour in total strokes gained, scoring average, and birdie percentage. He's the No. 1 golfer for a reason, so don't be shocked if he starts the season off winning the first two major tournaments.

Rory McIlroy score prediction: MC

Rory McIlroy has been terrible lately, and predicting him to miss the cut may not be as bold of a prediction as it may seem. He has missed the cut at both The Players and The Masters and he finished T47 at the Wells Fargo Championship in his last start.

He has admitted his mind hasn't been on golf lately, and that's never good news for a Tour pro.

Xander Schauffele score prediction: -10

Few golfers have been as consistently good at Majors over the past few years as Xander Schauffele. But, once again, a lack of ability to make a true Sunday charge will likely cost him once again.

Patrick Cantlay score prediction: -7

Patrick Cantlay is good but not great and he has failed to finished 9th or better at any Major Tournament in his career. Until he truly contends on a Sunday at a Major, I can't have faith in him.

Brooks Koepka score prediction: -10

Brooks Koepka peaked at The Masters, which resulted in a T2 finish, and I have faith he can compete again at the PGA Championship. He already has two PGA Championships to his name, and Oak Hill should fit his style of play well.

Justin Thomas score prediction: -2

Justin Thomas' last win came at last year's PGA Championship. Maybe he can pull things together at this year's edition of the event, but I don't have a lot of faith. His putter has been all over the place as of late, and hasn't finished better than T10 since the WM Phoenix Open in February.

Tony Finau score prediction: -5

Much like Cantlay, Finau has the skill and ability to win a Major, but he's yet to even sniff one on a Sunday. Until he proves he can do that, I don't expect much from him.

Dustin Johnson score prediction: -9

Dustin Johnson won last week's LIV Golf event, so he's clearly in good form ahead of the PGA Championship. He has two Majors to his name and has finished twice at the PGA Championship in his career.

If he can play as well as he did last week, he'll be in contention on the weekend.

Jason Day score prediction: -6

Jason Day won last week's AT&T Byron Nelson for his first win in a number of years. Can he keep that momentum going this week, or will he suffer a bit of a winners hangover? Time will tell, but he already has a PGA Championship to his name.
