While the Liberty lost to the Las Vegas Aces last time out, there's no shame in losing to the best team in the WNBA.
The Liberty are starting to turn into a clear second best team in the league, and have begun running through the WNBA outside of the Aces. New York is 10-4 on the year with the second best offense and net rating.
The team is in Seattle to face the Storm, who have the second worst record in the league.
Can NY cash as big road favorites? Here are the odds and our best bet:
Liberty vs. Storm odds, spread and total
Liberty vs. Storm prediction and pick
The Liberty have covered five of its last six games as favorites and I expect the team to stay the course against the Storm.
Seattle places in the bottom third in offensive and defensive rating this season, per WNBA.com, and have the second lowest effective field goal percentage in the league. The team will struggle to keep up with Sabrina Ionosecu and the Liberty offense that is second in effective field goal percentage and offensive rating.
The gap between the Liberty and the third best offense in the WNBA is stark. While the Aces are playing at a historic level, the Liberty are also playing at an outstanding mark. New York has scored nearly five more points per 100 possessions than the third best team this season.
Seattle doesn't have the offense to keep up with New York, who is humming on that end, and I'll back the Liberty to continue to separate from the rest of the pack and try to keep up with the Ace with a road cover.
