LAFC have loaned defender Mamadou Fall to Spanish giants Barcelona for the duration of the 2023/24 season.
Following the conclusion of the current La Liga campaign, Barcelona will have an option to make Fall's stay permanent.
Despite Fall's departure, LAFC still have plenty of solid options at the back, with the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Eddie Segura, Aaron Long and Jesus Murillo all capable of putting in a shift in the backline.
The 20-year-old made over 40 appearances in all competitions for the Black and Gold before making the temporary switch to Spain, and will look to develop at one of the best clubs in the world for young talent. Fall already has recent experience in La Liga after featuring for Villarreal during the 2022/23 season, also on loan from LAFC.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for Mamadou to continue in his development at one of the top clubs in the world," LAFC general manager and co-president John Thorrington said. "All at LAFC are aware of Fall’s incredible potential and this next step is a testament to his development here at LAFC."
"We wish him all the best in his continued progress at Barcelona."
The 2022 MLS Cup champions are set to take on Inter Miami and Lionel Messi on September 3 at BMO Stadium and head coach/sporting director Greg Vanney will be looking to make a statement with a positive result over the Herons.
