LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Nicolas Cage once admitted that Keanu Reeves defeated him at billiards. While Cage, 59, and his Renfield co-star Nicholas Hoult responded to questions from fans in a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session on Sunday, March 26, 2023, the actor recalled a night of billiards with 'John Wick: Chapter 4 star Reeves, 58, when a fan inquired about the actors' fave Reeves films.
Cage discussed the event while promoting his 2023 film Renfield, a gory horror-comedy from Universal Pictures that was released in theaters on April 14. Chris McKay directed the film. Now, the film's producers have disclosed the release date for the Cage and Hoult blockbuster. The movie will start streaming on Peacock on June 9.
'Keanu kicked my a** at billiards'
"Well… Keanu kicked my a** at billiards one night. He came up to my house on his motorcycle, and he was making these impossible shots," Cage responded on Reddit. "He said, 'Now I dunno if I can get that shot or this shot' and he made every single shot." "So I have mixed emotions about the skill that Keanu has because he completely dominated me at pool," he added. "Umm, I like some of the early stuff like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. I thought he was great in River's Edge. He was just great in that movie, yeah." In response to the fan's query, Hoult stated that he "liked the first John Wick" and the 1994 film Speed.
Fans loved the candid discussion with one commenting, "Somehow, we always knew that Keanu would be a badass at billiards. Too many leather jackets not to be." A fan praised Reeves and said, "Tbh he strikes me as the kind of guy who would be good at just about anything." "I love the idea of Keanu Reeves going from actors house to actors house on his motorbike, kicking their ass at pool," noted another fan. "One day he just shows up at your door and says "it's time, are you ready?" "I love this mental image I now have that Keanu moonlights as a celebrity pool shark," claimed another fan.
Is Keanu Reeves a fan of pool?
Reeves, whose most recent film in the John Wick series came out in cinemas last Friday, seems to be a fan of cue sports and pool. The World Snooker Tour, a snooker-related professional sports company, published a report about the Canadian actor visiting the Arizona Snooker Academy in Chandler, Arizona, in February 2022 to play a few games with some pals. "He came in with three of his friends and played for a while. He was living the dream," Arizona Snooker Academy owner Romil Azemat told WST's website at the time. "Then we spoke for about an hour as we both share an interest in motorcycles." "He used to play snooker when he lived in Toronto and he told me that I brought back lot of memories, he really appreciated that," the owner stated. "He said it's hard to find places to play snooker in the USA."
