Inter Miami have signed midfielder Facundo Farias from Argentinian side Colon, making their fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
Once Lionel Messi joined the Herons, the signings haven't stopped coming. After the 36-year-old put pen to paper with Miami, Sergio Busquets, Diego Gomez, and Jordi Alba have all made the move to south Florida. These signings make sense, as everyone wants to link up with the greatest player of all time before he hangs his boots up.
Now, 20-year-old midfielder Farias is the newest recruit that will aid Miami's midfield alongside Busquets and Benjamin Cresmaschi. Farias' contract with Miami runs through the 2026 MLS season with the option for the next two years.
"Facundo is a player with a lot of promise and we're excited to bring him to Inter Miami. We believe he will be able to realize his potential here and bolster our options in a number of positions," Miami sporting director and chief soccer officer Chris Henderson said.
Farias will take up an U22 international roster spot in Miami and is ready to make an impact in MLS.
"I'm very pleased to make this move. Inter Miami is a big club with incredible ambition and I am excited to be a part of the project alongside great players, coaches and staff," Farias said.
The Herons are now waiting to see who they'll face in the next phase of the 2023 Leagues Cup after winning both of their group stage games against Cruz Azul and Atlanta United. Gerardo 'Tata' Martino and his squad will face whoever finishes in second place in the South 2 group: Houston Dynamo, Orlando City, or Santos Laguna.
