UNITED KINGDOM: Mr Olympia winner Neil Currey died at the age of 34, according to his former coach. Milos Sarcev, a Serbian bodybuilding celebrity, conveyed the awful news in an Instagram tribute on September 11.
The cause of death is unknown, while initial reports stated Milos' Instagram post indicated Neil does by suicide. Milos' original Instagram post, however, has been modified and contains no mention of suicide.
Following the news of Neil's passing, tributes to him have been published on social media. RX Muscle, which styles itself as the authority on bodybuilding news, shared the following statement on Instagram, “Stunned and beyond saddened by the tragic news that Neil Currey has passed away at the young age of 34. We pass our most sincere and deepest condolences to Neil’s family, friends, and to all of his fans around the world.”
Neil was commended by Canadian bodybuilder Fouad Abiad, who said, "His work ethic was second to none and he had so much potential that was still untapped."
This comes just days after the death of famed women's professional bodybuilder Lisa Lyon, who died at the age of 70 following a battle with cancer.

Neil went on to fight against some of the top competitors in the world, finishing first in the New York Pro in 2022 and punching his ticket to the Mr. Olympia competition. Neil got to carry out his goals on the Mr Olympia stage later in the year 2022, finishing 16th in the Classic Physique category.
