World-record bid made for Kylian Mbappe as PSG exit looms
World-record bid made for Kylian Mbappe as PSG exit looms
Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal have made a world-record €300m (£259m) bid for Kylian Mbappe, as Paris Saint-Germain are intent on selling the player this summer. The French champions have sounded out pretty much every major European club as regards a potential deal but the general feeling has been that the 24-year-old only wants to go to Real Madrid when his contract runs out next year. Mbappe sparked this entire saga by telling PSG he had no wish to sign a new deal last month. With Real Madrid keen to hold their nerve and not move for the French star until next summer, primarily for reasons of Financial Fair Play, Al Hilal are willing to give all parties a potential out with even a one-year deal that could see Mbappe earn €700k for a season. One of the issues right now is almost that Mbappe has priced himself out of most moves, with all but about three or four clubs unable to afford him. Chelsea are among the clubs to have considered a move, but the feeling is the price would be too high and that it would take a lot to convince Mbappe anyway. Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg offered 'death' match by wrestling company
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg offered 'death' match by wrestling company
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have been offered the chance to have their fight in a 'Domo De La Muerte' match by the Mexican Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) promotion AAA. Musk and Zuckerberg, the owners of Twitter and Facebook respectively, have 'agreed' to have a cage fight against each other after the challenge was laid down by the Telsa and SpaceX CEO. Zuckerberg, who is trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, appeared to respond to the South African billionaire, writing 'send me location' in an Instagram post. It's unknown if this fight will actually take place but if it does they could settle their differences in the six-sided ring of AAA, which was originally known as Asistencia, Asesoría y Administración de Espectáculos. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter In a tweet, the promotion, which was formed in 1992 and boasts stars such as El Hijo del Vikingo, Fenix and Pentagon Jr on its roster, wrote: "Hey, @elonmusk... We got an idea: Musk Vs Zuckerberg, Domo de la Muerte, #TriplemaniaXXXI" For those that don't speak Spanish, 'Domo De La Muerte' translates as 'dome of death' which is basically a cage with a domed roof over the ring, which is full of weapons. Although this would be great to see we can't imagine that Musk or Zuckerberg would be keen to go through with this but the option does appear to be there for a Triplemania XXXI match on July 15th should they want to. Meanwhile, Musk has been offered the assistance of controversial influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate, who has offered to train the former richest man in the world for the upcoming Zuckerberg fight. ‘This is not where we are going to stop’ – Michail Antonio on West Ham’s ECL win
‘This is not where we are going to stop’ – Michail Antonio on West Ham’s ECL win
West Ham striker Michail Antonio believes their Europa Conference League triumph is just the start of bigger things to come. Jarrod Bowen’s last-minute goal against Fiorentina ended the Hammers’ 43-year wait for a trophy. Their 2-1 victory also means West Ham will be back in the Europa League next season, the first time they have qualified for Europe three years running. “It’s massive, it’s massive,” said Antonio. “Moving forward this is not where we are going to stop, we will see if we can keep carrying it on and keep pushing ourselves and keep doing better. “Last year we got to the semi-finals of the Europa League. This year, we won the Conference League. You can see we have a good pack of boys here, we have got good confidence and hopefully we can build on that.” Said Benrahma put West Ham ahead from the penalty spot before Giacomo Bonaventura equalised for the Italian side. But Lucas Paqueta’s ball over the top sent Bowen through on goal to fire the Hammers to European glory. Full-back Emerson Palmieri revealed manager David Moyes gave a victory speech and, as promised, joined his players in some dancing. “The gaffer said, ‘thank you for everything, thank you for the title’. Of course he is happy, we are happy. So everyone is happy,” he said. “If you take the images, when you receive the medal, you need to walk on the podium, he did the dance. It was good – for a Scotsman!” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live

Rangers boss Michael Beale ‘glad pre-season is out of the way’
Rangers boss Michael Beale ‘glad pre-season is out of the way’
Michael Beale watched Rangers battle back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 against TSG Hoffenheim in Germany then revealed he was “glad pre-season is out the way”. John Souttar and Ben Davies missed the friendly due to a sickness bug and with Conor Goldson working his way back to full fitness, veteran defender Leon Balogun, one of eight signings this summer, and 20-year-old Johnly Yfeko started in central defence. Rangers trailed to goals from Pavel Kaderabek and Ihlas Bebou before skipper James Tavernier reduced the deficit after the break with a penalty after Ozan Kabak brought down Cyriel Dessers. Tavernier then provided the cross for Sam Lammers to head home and level the scores. Brazilian striker Danilo, signed from Feyenoord on a five-year deal on Friday, and Dujon Sterling, who had recovered from a knock, came on in the second half to make their first appearances, along with several other substitutes. Rangers have also lost to Newcastle, beaten Hamburg and lost to Olympiacos in preparation for their cinch Premiership opener against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on August 5 and Gers boss Beale is keen for the real action to start. He told Rangers’ official Twitter account: “I was frustrated at half-time because even though we had a disastrous 24 hours with illness in the camp, I thought the two goals we let in in the first half were really poor. “And actually we created some big chances ourselves and our last pass was out. “I thought in the second half, we were very good. There was chances at both ends but the least we deserved was a draw. “We were decent enough in possession, poor defensively and we improved in both areas in the second half. “But the most important thing, again, was to face some challenges, try to problem-solve and overcome them and it was a good challenge today. “It’s amazing. You come here with two defenders in Leon and Johnly and you end the game with no central defenders and these are scenarios that might happen in the season. So it wasn’t ideal in terms of preparation, everything like that. “Overall, it was a really good friendly. The pitch was dry, the heat in the stadium, everyone could feel as well which made it a slow game at times but yes, food for thought and I’m glad pre-season is now out of the way. “I can’t say I overly enjoy pre-season because I just want it out of the way, I want the games to be out of the way. “We are integrating a lot of new players and we are also integrating Tom Lawrence and Kemar Roofe back from long injuries. “We’ve had illness and injury and everything in between preparing for this game. It was our fourth game in 12 days and it’s been heavy on the legs, but it’s out of the way now and we get this nice normal week to Kilmarnock. “We have the fantastic opportunity on Tuesday to train in front of our fans in an open day and then it will be onto business into the weekend. “We’re looking forward to going to Kilmarnock and starting the season.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live Stuart Broad announces his retirement from cricket at end of final Ashes Test England surge into pole position to win final Test and level Ashes series Darcy Graham returns to Scotland action with double in warm-up win over Italy

Authorities investigate El Salvador stadium crush with at least nine people dead
El Salvador’s National Civil Police have launched a criminal investigation after at least nine people died in a football stadium crush in San Salvador. Dozens more fans were injured during Saturday’s incident at the Primera Division play-off quarter-final second leg between Alianza and FAS at the Cuscatlan Stadium in the country’s capital. The match was suspended and the National Civil Police confirmed in a preliminary report posted on Twitter that nine people – seven men and two women – had died. National Civil Police general commissioner Mauricio Arriaza Chicas said the police would work alongside the Republic’s attorney general’s office to hold those responsible for the disaster to account. Arriaza Chicas said on Twitter: “We regret this incident in which there are deaths. As a police institution we announce that together with the @FGR_SV we are going to get down to the last details of a criminal investigation into tonight’s incident.” Attorney general Rodolfo Delgado tweeted: “What has happened this day at the Cuscatlan Stadium is a tragedy for everyone. My condolences to the Salvadoran fans. @FGR_SV and @PNCSV they are executing the necessary procedures to deduce responsibilities.” El Salvador president Nayib Bukele promised that an “exhaustive investigation” would be conducted into what happened at the stadium. He added on Twitter: “Everyone will be investigated: teams, directors, stadium, ticket office, league, federation, etc… “Whoever the culprits are, they will not go unpunished.” Video footage of the match on YouTube shows the game being suspended after panic in one of the stands and the injured are later seen being carried away by emergency services on stretchers. Francisco Alabi, the minister of health, said on Twitter in the hours after the incident: “At the moment, as an integrated health system, we are caring for around 90 people after what happened at the stadium. “The patients are both women and men, including minors, and who mostly have been treated for multiple injuries. “The majority of them are in a stable condition and at the moment we have had no reports of deaths from hospitals.” The Salvadoran Soccer Federation said that all national level football matches on Sunday would be suspended.
