Barcelona footballer Joao Cancelo lit up social media after his most recent post-match interview – and not necessarily for the right reasons. The defender scored a dramatic late winner on Sunday against Celta Vigo, recording a player-of-the-match performance for his Catalan team. After full-time, Cancelo, 29, was modest about his performance, mentioning that he made “many technical errors that are not normal in my game”. “I had to improve and turn things around,” he told reporters. “I tried to give everything until the end and we were able to come back and to win is the most important thing. “If I perform, the club will love me. If not, they will kick me out.” However, rather than focus on his exceptional performance, many viewers were more fixated on his facial expressions during the interview. Here’s the footage: One person commented: “I’m convinced he's a vampire fighting the urge to eat that journalist.” Another wrote: “At first I thought this was a Snapchat filter.” While Cancelo quickly returned to normal after pulling the face, there was something rather bloodthirsty about it. Another person commented simply: “I’ve seen him in my nightmares.” The 29-year-old joined Barcelona on a season-long loan from Manchester City. Aside from the bizarre interview, he looks to have secured a place in Catalan hearts after the winner. Barcelona went down in the match, but managed to score one back through striker Robert Lewandowski. Then, with just one minute of normal time left, the Portuguese player sent the home crowd wild by finishing a second chance. Manager Xavi said: “We didn't play well (but) came up with the epic, showing winning character. “I think this generation fights until the end. Keira Walsh says she is “feeling fresh” as she targets a fourth consecutive summer of international football. Barcelona midfielder Walsh played for Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and then for England when they won Euro 2022 before finishing as runners-up at the summer’s Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The latter tournament saw the 26-year-old miss a game due to a knee injury, and a subsequent calf problem saw her sit out the Lionesses’ two September matches in the Women’s Nations League – a competition through which England can secure qualification for GB for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Walsh said: “After so many tournaments, and somebody actually sent me a thing the other day that I’d played the second-most games in Europe, I think naturally that’s going to take a toll on your body. I think obviously that’s potentially a factor of why I got injured at the start of the season. “But I did my rehab, the club and England have looked after me, we’ve had a camp since then and a lot of games in between. “I’m feeling good, I’m feeling fresh, and I think that was my little break for me to now go again and push on this season.” Walsh says another tournament next summer is something she is “definitely” up for, adding: “Honestly, the thought of pre-season is worse! “I’d rather go to a tournament. It’s special. People talk about the winning, but just the feeling of being part of a team for so long, and you spend every day with each other – I think then when you go home and you’re not with 50 people is also a bit weird. They’re going to want to win – and so do we.” As well as regular captain Leah Williamson still being out injured, England also have Millie Bright, who has been skipper in her absence, sidelined at the moment. Paris St Germain are ready to integrate Kylian Mbappe back into the first-team squad, according to reports. The France captain’s future in the capital city has seemed uncertain following links with a move to Real Madrid and reports earlier this week that he was frozen out of senior training. Mbappe was told to stay away after he refused to activate an option to extend his current contract to 2025, meaning the superstar would be free to negotiate a free transfer to foreign clubs in January.
