KSI and Tommy Fury will square off in the boxing ring tonight, moments after Logan Paul and Dillon Danis go head to head. The Misfits event at Manchester’s AO Arena is one of the most-anticipated cards of the year, with each of the four fighters possessing thousands of fans and thousands of critics. Briton KSI and American Paul rose to fame on YouTube before crossing into boxing – even facing each other before becoming business partners and launching the Prime energy drink company in 2022. Meanwhile, Fury is best known as the half-brother of heavyweight boxing champion Tyson, and he most recently beat Paul’s younger brother Jake in February to stay unbeaten as a professional. In contrast, Danis is boxing for the first time tonight, though he does have a combat background. The American is a former jiu-jitsu champion and mixed martial artist, who some will know as an ex-teammate of UFC star Conor McGregor. While KSI and compatriot Fury have traded barbs repeatedly ahead of their clash tonight, the build to the all-American bout between Paul and Danis has been especially bitter. Paul’s fiancee Nina Agdal was even granted a temporary restraining order against Danis in September, after he took to social media to share numerous photos of her with various men. Kevin De Bruyne insisted there would be no complacency as Manchester City prepare for Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter Milan. City are the overwhelming favourites as they look to win the competition for the first time – and complete the treble – in Istanbul. Manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that City will need to transfer their home successes onto the European stage to be truly regarded among the great teams. Probably not. “In the end we have had a pretty impressive career at City, but it is something we have not won yet and it is something that we want to win. Hopefully it will be Saturday. “We know how big the moment is but I feel the more relaxed you are as a team, and the team is doing pretty well with that at the moment, you get a better chance.” De Bruyne has painful memories, literally, of that final loss to Chelsea two years ago after suffering a serious facial injury following a collision in the second half. F1 commentator Jack Nicholls has lost his job at BBC Radio 5 Live after complaints of “inappropriate touching” which led to his dismissal from his lead commentator role with Formula E. An investigation was launched by Formula E after a formal complaint of inappropriate behaviour in March and allegations of “inappropriate touching” were made by three individuals, one of whom had been in a relationship with the commentator. Now Nicholls, who combined his role with Formula E alongside commentating on F1 races for 5 Live, has also lost his job with IMG, who provide radio F1 coverage for the BBC. An IMG spokesperson confirmed to The Independent on Friday: “IMG has decided to part ways with Jack Nicholls in light of the incidents that led to his departure from Formula E.” After losing his job at Formula E at the end of May, Nicholls said: “Although disappointed with the decision, I respect it and accept why it was taken. “I want to take full responsibility for what I did and apologise unreservedly for a couple of isolated incidents that has made those concerned feel uncomfortable. “I never meant any harm and I am committed to making amends and to be more mindful of my behaviour in future.” Nicholls’ voice is synonymous with Formula E with his “and we go green…” intro to races well-known to fans since the championship began in 2014. But since the investigation, Nicholls had commentated on FE races remotely from a base in London, with Ben Edwards replacing him for the double-header in Jakarta two weeks ago and for the remaining five races of this season. Nicholls combined this role with F1 commentary for the BBC, a job he has performed since 2016, but he stepped aside from scheduled appearances at the Monaco Grand Prix three weeks ago after the Formula E investigation had concluded. Tom Aspinall banished a ghost at the O2 Arena on Saturday, securing a statement victory at UFC London to make a triumphant return, one year after suffering a severe injury in the same building. In July 2022, Aspinall tore his MCL and stretched his ACL just 15 seconds into his main event with Curtis Blaydes, and almost exactly 365 days later, the Wigan heavyweight stopped Marcin Tybura in the first round to get back to winning ways. Aspinall, 30, hurt Tybura early with a head kick but resisted getting carried away, instead biding his time – briefly, at least – before dropping the Pole, 37, with a straight right hand. Aspinall then pounced with hammer fists, forcing the stoppage before climbing atop the cage to celebrate. “I wasn’t myself [last time], this is a whole new version of me,” Aspinall said in his post-fight interview. “I’m not gonna say that I’m back; I’m different.
