Gabriel Jesus plays down Ederson spat in Arsenal's victory over Man City

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has insisted he has no issues with Brazil teammate Ederson after the pair clashed in the Gunners' recent 1-0 win over Manchester City.

Jesus, who left City for Arsenal in the summer of 2022, was attempting to run the clock down after Gabriel Martinelli's late goal and earned himself a push from Ederson, after which the two exchanged words on the pitch.

Now back together on international duty with Brazil, Jesus has insisted his spat with Ederson was purely in the heat of the moment.

"I have a good relationship, not just with Ederson, but on the pitch it's normal," Jesus said. "Ederson and I spent a lot of time together at City and we were very happy. He knows how fond I am of him and I also know how fond he is of me.

"But on the pitch he defends his team and I defend mine. It was a moment when we were winning and it's not easy to beat them. We were winning and I held the ball there. Anyway, he ended up giving me a push, but afterwards everything was normal. We came together talking. That's it."

Victory over City saw Arsenal jump up to second in the Premier League table, ahead of Pep Guardiola's side and level on points with early leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

"Everyone knows how hard it is to play against them, even when they play away," Jesus told Sky Sports after the game. "As I said before, it’s not impossible to beat them.

"We have to congratulate them, how they work, how they play but it’s our home, we had to try everything, fight with the ball, be efficient to score goals."
