Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked about the arrest of his brother, Jackson Mahomes, at OTAs.
Jackson Mahomes faces aggravated sexual battery charges from an incident which occurred last February. Per police, a restaurant owner alleged Jackson "grabbed her and forcibly kissed her multiple times at her Kansas establishment three months ago. The younger Mahomes was also accused of shoving a male member of her wait staff earlier in the evening," TMZ claims.
Jackson was arrested on May 3, and the TikTok personality has for the most part remained quiet since then, minus some statements via his legal team.
"Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson's accuser including the statements of several witnesses," Mahomes' lawyer Brandan Davies said. "We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter."
As for Jackson's brother Patrick Mahomes, QB of the Chiefs, this drama has inevitably followed him to his place of work.
Everything Patrick Mahomes said about Jackson Mahomes arrest
When Mahomes was asked about his brother at offseason OTAs, he initially deflected, saying that he'd rather keep family conversations out of the workplace. That's a smart answer given the severity of the charges Jackson is facing.
"It's kind of a personal thing that I'm going to keep to myself," Mahomes said. "At the end of the day, I come here to play football and try to take care of my family, at the same time."
Still, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback was pressed on the matter by media members given the story's prevalence in the Kansas City community.
"Just kind of keep it to myself and just go out there and play football when I'm in the building," Mahomes continued. "It's your family, but you have to come in here and do a job. And that's what I try to do every day."
It sounds like Mahomes is focused on his day to day, in the hopes that Jackson's situation takes care of itself. In the end, that's all he can really control.
