Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold have withdrawn from the England squad for international fixtures against Ukraine and Scotland with injuries.
The pair were named among Gareth Southgate's picks as the Three Lions continue their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign against Ukraine and take part in the 150th anniversary fixture with Scotland in Glasgow.
Alexander-Arnold was withdrawn with 71 minutes on the clock during Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, while Grealish missed Manchester City's 5-1 thumping of Fulham with a thigh injury.
A statement from the England camp reads: "Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been ruled out of England's September fixtures.
"The pair reported to St. George's Park on Monday but have since withdrawn from the Three Lions squad following checks on injuries sustained prior to camp."
England do not plan on calling any further players up to the squad, though Kieran Trippier will arrive later on Wednesday due to a personal commitment. Alexander-Arnold will return to Liverpool for treatment and is expected to be sidelined for around two weeks, making him a doubt for the trip to Wolves after the international break.
Forwards like Phil Foden, James Maddison and Eberechi Eze will be hopeful of starting in Grealish's absence, likely alongside Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka in attack.
The former Villa captain enjoyed starts against Sevilla, Newcastle and Sheffield United in August, picking up an assist against the Blades, but hasn't featured since.
Levi Colwill and Eddie Nketiah are the squad debutants hoping to make their bows during the break, with England first in action on Saturday when they face Ukraine at the Tarczynski Arena in Poland.
