WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO: Paige Spiranac, the 29-year-old golfing sensation and influencer, recently shared her experience of playing with MLB legend Derek Jeter in the 'Playing the Round' podcast. She revealed that she was a part of the Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational and was teamed up with the former captain. Impressed with Jeter's game, she could not stop praising his skills on the golf course.
Apart from this, Jeter has continued to make a significant impact through the Turn 2 Foundation that he founded in 1996. The foundation's primary aim is to support young people in their community. Over the years, Jeter has invited several celebrities to participate in this event which he hosts regularly.
'He is one of the nicest guys i have ever met'
On the podcast, Spiranac said, "He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met,” adding, “I think with a lot of these celebrities, and especially athletes, they’re very full of themselves, and I think you do need a bit of that to be very successful, you need to have confidence in yourself and a lot of them are very narcissistic and cocky, and he is the exact opposite."
Why was Paige Spiranac 'so embarrassed'?
Even though Spiranac's experience of playing with Jeter was unforgettable, she had a hard time keeping up with others at the event. Having participated in the competition, she put in extra effort to train and improve her golf swing. However, she struggled to line up a few shots and eventually had a mental breakdown on the course.
Spiranac was reportedly embarrassed after topping a three-wood in front of Jeter at the 18th hole. She said, “I played like absolute garbage. I was so embarrassed. I couldn’t hit a shot. I literally topped a three-wood on 18 in front of Derek Jeter. It was bad. I was really struggling." Things only got worse for her after she reached the 17th tee.
Despite the rough start, she turned things around the next day and finished with a respectable score of 66. The event hosted in the Bahamas was a huge success and raised over $1M for the foundation.
