David de Gea has confirmed his departure from Manchester United after the expiry of his contract, sending a message to supports on social media to thank them for an “unforgettable and successful period”. The statement from the Spanish goalkeeper read: “I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.
