For some, that day takes a little longer to come. 27-year-old Forrest Wall's day finally arrived when the Atlanta Braves selected his contract this week and called him up. Wall took the 40-man roster spot that opened when the Braves placed pitcher Kolby Allard on the 60-day IL, and he was then added to the 26-man roster.
Wall was a first-round draft pick by the Colorado Rockies nine years ago. It's been an extensive road since then, with time spent in four different organizations, including the Rockies, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, and Atlanta Braves. His speed is incredibly useful on the bases, and this is something the Braves will certainly take advantage of.
In addition to being a valuable pinch runner, Wall can be a useful defensive replacement. He is able to play each of the outfield positions, which gives the Braves depth. Wall isn't known for his hitting, but he can provide a lefty bat in the lineup with plate discipline.
