Alphonse Areola has won the Castrol Save of the Month award for October thanks to his fantastic save to deny Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.
The France international was named the West Ham number one at the start of the season, and has more than repaid the faith shown in him by David Moyes with some outstanding showings.
Having earned a nomination in August for a save against Brighton and Hove Albion - palming a stinging Evan Ferguson shot up onto the crossbar and out for a corner kick - Areola received two more nominations in October.
The goalkeeper made stunning stops in games against Everton and Aston Villa during the month of October. His effort to get down quickly to his left to tip an Abdoulaye Doucoure half-volley around the post at London Stadium earned a nomination, however it was his save to deny Douglas Luiz a fantastic goal which earned the Castrol Save of the Month Award.
The French goalkeeper showcased his cat-like reflexes to reach up and acrobatically tip a thunderous long-range effort from Luiz over the crossbar at Villa Park.
Areola is the first West Ham or French goalkeeper to win the Castrol Save of the Month award since its inception at the start of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.
Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario, Liverpool's Alisson Becker, Sheffield United's Wes Foderingham and Luton Town's Thomas Kaminski were all also nominated for the October Castrol Save of the Month award.
