Aaron Rodgers’ latest comment on Jets pay cut will infuriate Packers fans

Aaron Rodgers explained that he took a pay cut to help the Jets potentially land big-name players down the line. That has got to sting Packers fans.

Aaron Rodgers' mere existence at this point might irk Packers fans considering all the drama of the last few years. But it might be just a little bit easier if he didn't keep doing and saying things to put all that angst into harsh perspective.

The latest edition of "Things Aaron Rodgers Said To Piss Off Packers Fans" comes courtesy of Peter King as the quarterback explained his reasoning behind agreeing to a pay cut with the Jets.

Basically, King wanted to know why Roodgers would give up an estimated $35 million over two seasons.

The answer? Rodgers didn't want his "anchor of a contract," as King described it, to get in the way of the Jets' ability to improve the team.

Aaron Rodgers pay cut explainer only increases Packers' frustration

"I thought it was important they knew how committed I was. And in my conversations with Joe [Douglas], he has made it very clear the vision for the football team.

"You probably agree with this. This year, compared to like 2005, the amount of transactions that happen now with guys getting cut and the amount of trades—way more than before. Big names move at the trade deadline now. I wanted to make sure that if somebody valuable came available that we'd be able to get him. I'm very happy with the contract. I feel great about it."

Now Rodgers is scheduled to make $37.5 million per year.

It would have been nice if Rodgers had extended the same courtesy to a Packers team paying him $50 million a year. That anchor of a contract wasn't exactly a light carry as Green Bay went 8-9 in 2022.
