A 5-star running back named Turbo has committed to Nick Saban and Alabama football. You've all been warned.
The Alabama Crimson Tide football program is frequently listed near the top of every recruiting database, but of late they've had to deal with threats within their own conference, such as the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas A&M Aggies.
Perhaps because of this, Nick Saban is getting a head start on the 2025 class. The No. 1 running back in the class, Anthony 'Turbo' Rogers, has committed to play in Tuscaloosa. Of course, much can happen between now and National Signing Day — these are high schoolers, after all — but the Tide have a good outlook for the '25 class, with Turbo leading the way.
"I love the environment. It's just a chill, cool environment. I like how the program is ran and how everybody has to work for what they get. I like that it's a hard-working program, Coach Saban he's a great coach, has a lot of experience, one of the greatest coaches in college football," Turbo said, per 247sports.
Alabama football: Yes, Turbo Rogers is coming to Tuscaloosa
It's early, but Alabama already has its fourth commit in the 2025 class, which ranks No. 2 in the country right now. Rogers, per his namesake, is one of the fastest runners in the country. He gave a silent commitment to Alabama running back coach Robert Gillespie a few weeks ago. At 5-8, 185 pounds, Rogers isn't necessarily the prototype running back, but he's rated highly for a reason.
As it turns out, Rogers already had several connections to the Tide program. Closing the deal wasn't as tough for Saban and Co. as it normally would be.
"I have three friends on the team (Qua Russaw, James Smith, Khurtiss Perry) and my brother (Josiah King Rogers) and sister (Thailyn Rogers) go to school there," Rogers said.
247 ranks Rogers as the No. 33 prospect in his class, and among the top running backs. He's currently in his junior season at Pike Road High.
